Cava @ Home

Updated: Jan 4, 2024

Ever since I first tried a Cava bowl, I haven’t looked back—sorry, Chipotle! The ingredients at Cava are incredibly fresh, and the variety they offer is unmatched. I know some people miss the sour cream and shredded cheese, but honestly, Cava’s flavorful sauces more than make up for it. I’m obsessed with the tzatziki and tahini, and the crazy feta is exactly what it says—crazy good!

Of course, being someone who loves to cook, I couldn’t resist recreating my favorite Cava bowl at home. My Cava addiction was getting a little pricey, so I headed to my local Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s to find everything I needed to whip up my own version, down to the sauces and toppings.

At Cava, I usually go for a Greens + Grains bowl, and I thought I’d share my go-to combination in case you want to give it a try.

My Grocery List

Here’s what you’ll need to make your own Cava bowl at home:

  • Brown Rice

  • Spring Mix

  • Thin-Sliced Chicken Breasts

  • Honey

  • Chopped Broccoli

  • Crushed Red Pepper

  • Trader Joe’s Traditional Tunisian Harissa

  • Cava Crazy Feta Dip

  • Pickled Red Onions

  • Cucumber

  • Pico De Gallo

  • Tahini Dressing

  • Pita Bread

Cooking Instructions

  1. Harissa Honey Chicken: Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and chili powder, then pan sear. Add two teaspoons of harissa sauce and a squirt of honey to the pan, and cook until the chicken is fully cooked.

  2. Fiery Broccoli: Sauté the broccoli in oil, adding crushed red pepper flakes for a bit of heat.

  3. Pita Chips: Cut the pita bread into four even pieces and fry them for two minutes in vegetable oil. Season with salt and pepper as soon as they come out of the oil.

Everything else can be added to your bowl as is—no more cooking required! I didn’t include specific measurements; feel free to add toppings and sauces to your liking.

Pro tip: Don’t skip the pickled onions. They add the perfect touch of sweet flavor.
